Well, I've had a long-standing crush on Samantha Carter that has very little to do with the actress portraying her. (She blew up a sun! She's awesome!)

And in books, I've fallen in and out of love with many characters, but I'll always love Sabriel of Garth Nix's Old Kingdom series.

So...are you talking about really liking characters? Because I get that. Having a crush, though, seems to imply having a romantic or sexual interest in the character. I think that it's the use of a term usually applied in cases of infatuation and physical attraction that's throwing me off.

It really isn't that hard to do espically with anime or book characters.
